The Research and Development cell is headed by a team consisting of the Director, Principal and Dean/CSE and fully assisted by the experienced Senior Faculty members of SNS college of Technology. Our Institution encourages all faculty members to undertake sponsored research programmes /projects supported by different funding agencies such as DST, CSIR, DSIR, UGC, AICTE and the Ministry of Environmental Sciences to mention a few. The R&D cell of SNS College of Technology, intends to have collaborative research programmes in association with Premier Research Laboratories and Institutes in India. Each department is encouraged to involve in different research and consultancy activities for the Industries throughout the academic year. Research activities by various departments of our Institution will be monitored by the R & D cell periodically. The R&D cell would like to have healthy interactions between the Institute and the Industries, which can be ensured through the following steps:

  • Departments of Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering and Electrical & Electronics Engineering,are recognized as Research Departments/ R&D centers by Anna University.
  • All the Laboratories established by the 10 U.G Departments are having very good research facilities to conduct research and consultancy work.
  • Separate P.G Research Laboratories in all the 10 P.G departments are also available to carryout R & D work.
  • The Research scholars are encouraged to take up research work, leading to M.S (By research) and Ph.D. degrees.
  • Proposals are sent to several funding agencies such as AICTE, AR&DB, UGC, DST, DRDO, ISRO, CSIR. DSIR, Ministry of Power, etc., to get funds for the R&D projects.
  • Reputed industries are invited to sign MoUs with SNSCT and the existing MoUs are effectively utilized for getting consultancy and research projects for both the faculty members and students.

To Promote, Develop and Facilitate Research and Development by engaging cutting-edge research in collaboration with Government, Non-Government Organizations (NGOs) and the Private Industries

Objectives

  • To provide adequate funding for research
  • To promote more MoUs with leading Industries and Universities for enhancing the consultancy and research activities
  • To provide a platform for sharing available research facilities.
  • To recommend incentives for outstanding research articles, projects, research proposals and patents.
  • To establish a web portal system to share research information including thrust areas, progress of researches, research programs to be conducted in various places and research proposals for enhancing research activities of the Institution.
  • To provide a supportive research environment for scholars, at every stage of their career.
  • To monitor the progress of the researches, programs and projects of the Institution
  • To identify research thrust areas, promoting research, evaluating and disseminating research outcome.

The policy of the College to promote research culture in the College

  • The college policy to promote research is given below:
  • The Management sanctions Rs. 30 Lakhs every year for research and development
  • Recruiting more faculty members with Ph.D. Qualification
  • Research scholars can avail on-duty facilities(one-day per month) to undertake research work/meet their supervisor/visit research institutions/ industries to gather data and information relating to their area of research
  • Providing infrastructure facilities like laboratories, library resources, Journals etc.,
  • 50% of the registration fee is given for participating in research-oriented programs
  • Cash award and appreciation certificate are being issued for publishing papers in reputed National and International Journals
  • Constituting research advisory committee
  • Consultancy revenue sharing policy is in place
  • Faculty members are motivated to register and pursue the Ph.D. Program
  • Conducting awareness programs for preparing research proposals, IPR, Patent, etc., by inviting research experts from industries/academia
  • Granting financial assistance for students to develop/participate the innovative projects/products in International / National level competitions
  • Provision of integrating project work in curriculum
